Asthma Information
Asthma is a condition in which the airways that carry air in and out of the lungs become inflamed and narrowed, this can cause coughing, wheezing shortness of breath and chest tightness. People who have Asthma often have extra sensitive airways which are irritated by external factors such as pollen or animals.
When someone with Asthma has an asthma attack the muscles around the walls of the airways become inflamed and begin to narrow, this results in a reduction of the amount of air which gets through to the lungs.
There are many underlying factors which can trigger an Asthma Attack, Allergies or hay fever, Tobacco smoke and even stress.
